The South African Consortium of Quality Monitoring (SACAQM) initiative partners with Evotel, a leading Fibre Network Operator, to expand air quality monitoring across Gauteng. SACAQM’s AI_r sensors, developed with support from the Department of Science and Innovation, iThemba LABS, and CERN, provide real-time air pollution data using advanced AI-powered dashboards. Evotel will host these sensors on its extensive network infrastructure, ensuring efficient connectivity and widespread deployment. This collaboration aims to address Gauteng’s growing air pollution challenges, enabling targeted interventions from policymakers with accurate data.
