SACAQM discusses the SACAQM and Evotel partnership to fight air pollution in Gauteng in an eNCA interview.

SACAQM was recently interviewed by eNCA, where the new partnership between SACAQM and Evotel was discussed. This collaboration aims to address the growing concern of air pollution in the Gauteng province, focusing on enhancing air quality monitoring. SACAQM emphasized that this initiative is part of a larger effort to strengthen the monitoring infrastructure to inform policy decisions better and improve public health.

In the interview, SACAQM discussed the success of the pilot phase, which was launched earlier this year in key areas such as Soweto, Johannesburg, and Sandton. These areas were chosen due to their high industrial and vehicular emissions, which contribute significantly to air pollution. A key component of the initiative is the integration of IoT (Internet of Things), sensors, and AI (Artificial Intelligence) technologies into air quality monitoring systems. By using advanced sensors connected to IoT networks, data can be collected in real-time, allowing for more dynamic and accurate air quality monitoring. AI systems then analyze this data, identifying patterns, predicting trends, and offering actionable insights for managing air pollution.
