Internet of Things
The inclusion of low-cost IoT sensor nodes forms the first layer of innovation within the system. The use of an IoT device to fulfill the role of data collection has numerous benefits. The first benefit is that this system will overcome the financially prohibitive nature of current air quality monitoring solutions thereby allowing for a greater deployment in emerging economies. Similarly, the relatively low sensor node cost allows for the deployment of a greater amount of units thereby allowing for the creation of sensor arrays. Due to the density of these arrays, they will have the ability to detect highly localized air pollution and can assist in the identification of pollution sources and hotspots. The widespread deployment of sensor nodes will generate a large amount of air quality data. This provides an ideal opportunity for the implementation of Artificial Intelligence.
